Celebrating the Legacy of the Men’s Fellowship Cruise at Cedar Hill

Celebrating the Legacy of the Men’s Fellowship Cruise at Cedar Hill

Over twenty-five years ago, a vision was born — a vision of fellowship, worship, and unity on our waters. What began as a simple yet powerful idea as the Men’s Fellowship Cruise has grown into a cherished tradition known as the Cedar Hill Salvation Army Moon Lit Family Cruise.

In its very first year, there were approximately over 100 people gathered together for a time of gospel music, encouragement, and brotherhood. The atmosphere was filled with joy, praise, and a spirit of togetherness that would lay the foundation for what this cruise has become now.

Serving as the Master of Ceremonies for that inaugural event was Mr. Kelly Zuill, whose leadership and presence helped set the tone for an uplifting and memorable experience. Gospel music echoed across the waters, creating an environment of worship that brought hearts together in faith and fellowship.

Among those courageous and committed men who formed that very first group were Mr. Quinton Bean, Mr. Freeland Fisher, Mr. Gary Dowling, and Mr. Edward Lewis, just to name a few. Their willingness to step forward and support the vision helped establish a legacy that continues to impact lives today.

What started as a gathering of about 100 people has become more than just a cruise — it is a testimony of faith, unity, and the power of fellowship. For over two decades, the Men’s Fellowship Cruise has provided a space where we can connect, encourage one another, and celebrate our shared faith.

Today, we honor the pioneers who helped launch this meaningful tradition and we give thanks for the continued growth, strength, and togetherness that it represents.

May the Cedar Hill Salvation Army Moon Lit Family Cruise continue to sail forward for many years to come.

As the years have passed, the cruise has not only endured but flourished. Today, Mr. Gavon Simons and his dedicated team continue to faithfully fundraise, carefully plan, and successfully produce the wonderful cruise we now enjoy. Their commitment ensures that each year remains a meaningful experience of fun, food, fellowship, and worship.

Today, we honor the pioneers who helped launch this meaningful tradition, and we celebrate those who continue to carry the vision forward.

As Scripture reminds us:

“How good and pleasant it is when God’s people live together in unity!”
— Psalm 133:1
