Music, Memories and Celebration Mark 130th Anniversary

The Salvation Army’s 130th anniversary celebrations continued Saturday evening with a special Pre-Concert Reunion and Anniversary Concert, bringing together generations of Salvationists, musicians, family and friends for an evening celebrating Bermuda’s Salvation Army heritage.

The pre-concert reunion provided an opportunity for former members and supporters to reconnect, share memories and celebrate the many people who have contributed to The Salvation Army’s ministry over the past 130 years. Historical displays in the lobby offered a glimpse into the organisation’s rich history and sparked conversations across generations.

The reunion was followed by “Reaching Forward Through the Past,” a special anniversary concert at the Ruth Seaton James Centre for the Performing Arts.

The Salvation Army Band was joined by the Royal Bermuda Regiment Band, with performances from the anniversary songsters, timbrels, singing company, trombone soloist Kevin Hayward and vocalist Eugene Phillips.

The programme celebrated the longstanding musical tradition of The Salvation Army in Bermuda while bringing together musicians and performers from different generations and backgrounds.

Captain Alfred Esdaille, Area Commander, shared a devotional during the evening, reflecting on the balance between honouring the past and looking toward the future.

“Our methods may change but our message remains the same: Jesus is still the Rock upon which we build.”

The evening was a fitting celebration of 130 years of ministry in Bermuda—honouring the people, music and memories that have shaped the journey while looking forward to what comes next.
